Why the “blog” at scdenney.net?

Research and writing not for immediate or near-immediate consumption can be a drag. The dissertation, accordingly, is a drag. The process: Six-eight months of research and/or fieldwork (at least) plus another six-eight months of analysis and writing. Only then can you embark upon the long march to publication. And this assumes you needn’t do additional research, which may include an additional trip to “the field.”

I’m in the second stage of this two-stage process, with tentative plans for additional field work. As an outlet for notes, insights, and analysis of my dissertation research (and related materials), I’ll be posting short posts here, as frequent as time and energy permit.
